Emanuel County, Georgia is located at the heart of one of the fastest growing regions in the Southeast United States. The county seat, Swainsboro, lies at the center of the Augusta-Macon-Savannah triangle in East Central Georgia.

A 90 minute drive will have you enjoying the warm sunny beaches of Tybee Island near Savannah and Georgia's Golden Isles, Jekyll and St. Simons. A three hour drive north brings into play the splendid fall colors of the majestic Great Smoky Mountains in North Georgia or the City of Atlanta.

Location plays a major role in attracting business and industry to Emanuel County. I-16 traverses the county connecting it to Interstate 75 in Macon and Interstate 95 near Savannah. I-16 is located just 16 miles south of Swainsboro and is accessible by a new four-lane divided highway (U.S.1). Driving distances to other communities are listed elsewhere.

Outdoor recreation abounds for every member of the family. Bounded by the Ohoopee River to the west and the Ogeechee River to the east, Emanuel County is known as a hunter's and fisherman's paradise. Deer, turkey, dove and quail can be found in abundance.

Near Twin City, Ga., you'll find George L. Smith State Park, named after one of Georgia's great legislators. The park has a pristine 412-acre cypress pond with a grist mill dating back to the late 1800s. The park has eight rental cottages, 26 tent and trailer sites, and other amenities such as fishing, boating, canoeing, camping, hiking, and picnicking.

Celebrated for 60 years, the Pine Tree Festival highlights the importance the forest industry has played in the economic fortunes of the county. It has been said that with this area's perfect climate and soil conditions, pine trees can mature faster here than anywhere else in the world.
