Harmon Park--This public park is located approximately 2 miles south of the center of Downtown Swainsboro at the intersection of U.S.1 and Meadowlake Parkway. The park features plenty of open spaces to enjoy the outdoors. The park features four lighted tennis courts, a lighted one-mile walking trail, gazebo, park benches, playground equipment, covered picnic tables with charcoal grills, four ponds for public fishing and restroom facilities. There are several covered pavilions for family get-togethers.

Billy C. Carmichael Recreation Complex--Located adjacent to the Swainsboro Golf Course at 632 McLeod Bridge Road, this complex includes a lighted walking trail, four lighted softball fields, concession stands with scoring tower and restrooms, batting cage with warm-up area, two playground areas, four picnic pavilions with grills, a cook shelter, and two ponds. Also located at the complex is the Connie Kight Recreation Center, which houses Swainsboro/Emanuel County Recreation Department offices, a two-court gymnasium and an activity room with exercise equipment and dressing rooms. The Recreation Department's Baseball Complex--Located at 534 McLeod Bridge Road, this complex includes three lighted ball fields with scoring tower, two batting cages, playground areas, picnic tables, concession stand, and restrooms.

Swainsboro Golf Course--This 18-hole public golf course offers a challenging opportunity to test your golfing skills. Located at 557 McLeod Bridge Road, the course has electric golf carts, putting area and driving range. Hours are seasonal. Call 478-237-6116 for more information.

Disc Golf-The campus of East Georgia College is  home to one of the newest disc golf courses in the state. This 18-hole course, designed by world-champion disc golfer Pete May, is situated around the outer perimeter of the campus set among stately pines and incredible landscaping. The course has been referred to as "the most beautiful disc golf course found on a two-year college campus." There is no charge to play and it is open to the public year round. Public Tennis Courts--Numerous tennis courts are available at East Georgia College at 131 College Circle, as well as Harmon Park located on Meadowlark Parkway just off U.S. 1 South. Some courts are lighted. Courts are open at the college until 10 p.m. Courts are also available in Twin City and Adrian.

Swainsboro Raceway--Known as "the South's finest and fastest half mile dirt track," Swainsboro Raceway features racing on most weekends and holidays. Fourth of July Firecracker 100, Turkey 100, Pine Tree Festival and New Year's 100 highlight a full racing season. The dirt track is located approximately 2 miles north of Swainsboro on Hwy 56. Vann City Park--Located on U.S. 80 West (West Main Street) approximately 1/4 mile from center of Downtown Swainsboro, this park has two playgrounds, a picnic pavilion with grills and picnic tables, and park benches. The Vann Community House is located in the park. Many activities including family reunions, parties, and receptions are held in the Community House. Swainsboro Downtown Square--Situated in the heart of the downtown business district at the intersection of U.S.1 and U.S. 80, the Swainsboro Downtown Square offers a unique setting with palm trees, a large fountain and beautifully landscaped areas. There are also a number of monuments paying tribute to the men and women in uniform who have served our country, state and county. Park benches are in abundance. The Swainsboro/Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and Joint Development Authorities offices are located here. For  information on the Chamber or Joint Development Authorities call 478-237-6426.

George L. Smith State Park--Natural serene beauty, lakeside camping, and a covered bridge with dam and grist mill dating back to the 1880s awaits you at one of Georgia's most beautiful state parks. With 1634 acres, the park offers fishing on 400-acre cypress lake, boating, over 11 miles of hiking trails, group shelters, playground areas,restrooms, plus tent, trailer and RV sites. Also available on the property are eight rental cabins. The covered bridge and dam are open for tours. Park hours are 7am to 10pm daily. The Park Office hours are 8am to 5 pm. The park is located approximately 2 miles southeast of Twin City on U.S. 80. Look for signs. An additional entrance to the Park is located on Hwy. 23 between Twin City and Metter, Ga.

Cox Field, Twin City, Ga.--Located 1 mile east of Twin City on Hwy 192, the complex has two lighted ball fields with scoring tower, concession stand, covered shelter, playground area, picnic tables and park benches.

Princess Street & Paradise Road, Twin City, Ga.--Basketball courts with playground equipment, picnic tables with grills and park benches can be found at these two sites.

Pop Boogie Field, Twin City, Ga.--Located at the end of Old Statesboro Road, this site offers baseball/softball fields, basketball court, restrooms, picnic tables and grills.

Adrian, Ga.--Located 18 miles west of Swainsboro on U.S. 80, the City of Adrian offers a playground with picnic area and grills, lighted tennis courts. lighted baseball/softball fields, basketball court and concession stand with restrooms.

Garfield, Ga.--Garfield has a playground, two picnic pavilions, picnic tables with grills, park benches, basketball court and roller blade & skateboard lot. Garfield is located 5 miles northeast of Twin City, Ga.

Oak Park, Ga.--Located 3 miles south of  I-16 on U.S. 1, Oak Park has a community house which is used for civic events. The facility has a playground, park benches and picnic tables.

Stillmore, Ga.--Stillmore facilities include a community house, a lighted walking trail, outdoor basketball court, playground equipment, picnic tables with grill and park benches. Located on Hwy 57.

Nunez, Ga.--Located 10 miles south of Swainsboro on Hwy 297, the Moore Recreation Park offers a lighted walking trail, picnic areas with grills, basketball court, playground area, picnic pavilion with tables and restroom facilities.

Summertown, Ga.--Summertown has a community house, lighted walking trail with restrooms, lighted roller blade/skateboard trail, playground area with park benches, basketball court, cook shelter, picnic pavilion, picnic tables and grills.

Cross-Green Community.-- Cross-Green has a playground area, picnic pavilion with tables, grills, softball field and a lighted walking trail and restrooms. Cross-Green is located 18 miles north of Swainsboro, turn right on Wadley-Coleman Lake Road.

 

Magnolia State Park, Millen, Ga.--Located 4 miles north of Millen, Ga on Hwy 25, Magnolia State Park is home to crystal clear springs and a fresh water aquarium featuring native species of fish. Once the site of a Confederate prison, the park's natural springs produce over seven million gallons of water a day. A wooden bridge carries strollers across the spring's waters providing a bird's eye view of local wildlife including alligators. Open until dark. Center for Wildlife Education and Lamar Q. Ball Jr. Raptor Center, Statesboro, Ga.-- Located on the campus of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, the center provides six different habitat displays for 11 species of birds of prey, including a wetlands area, old-growth forest and mountain display. Visitors can take a self-guided tour. Open Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 1 pm to 5 pm. Closed on Sundays in June, July and August. Admission is free.
