Dot’s Boutique is a current staple for the women of Emanuel County, providing a wide selection of boutique fashion and gifts for their dedicated shoppers. However, many don’t know how Dot’s Boutique, the first boutique in Emanuel County, came to be, and it all started with the owner, Dori Durden Johnson. Dori, affectionately known as Dot, had been a practicing Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery since 2001, but she also had a passion for marketing and shopping in the boutique fashion world. Therefore, she decided to pursue this passion and opened a boutique via Facebook in September of 2012. Embarking on this new journey, Dori juggled being a full-time mom and continuing her nursing career, all while trying to help her young new business flourish. However, her hard work and dedication paid off, and the popularity of Dot’s Boutique soared, and the online boutique grew exponentially. Due to the success of the online store, Dori made the decision to open up a storefront in December of 2012. Then, in July of 2017, Dot’s Boutique relocated to a larger location to accommodate her still-growing local business. This past year, Dot’s Boutique also launched a website to accommodate loyal customers that may not live locally. Now, nine years after the original opening of Dot’s Boutique, the “Dot’s Girls” enjoy continuing to serve the women of Emanuel County and beyond and still love every aspect of being a small business.

Dot’s invests in the community they serve by supporting all local schools in sporting events and other fundraising events they may have. When asked why she decided to become a chamber member, Dori Johnson stated, “I was drawn to the unifying aspect of being a member of Emanuel County’s Chamber of Commerce. Here at Dot’s, we really value the sense of community and love how the Chamber of Commerce always encourages the consumers in Emanuel County to support local businesses and shop locally.”
