Annual Membership Meeting & Awards Banquet

Congratulations to Business and Person of the Year!

On Thursday, January 27th, 2022, we held our 67th Annual Membership Meeting & Awards Banquet at the Swainsboro Golf & Country Club. During the meeting, the STAR Students and Teachers for Emanuel County Institute (ECI) and Swainsboro High School (SHS) were recognized. Congratulations to Landon Goodman and Kendall Hadden from ECI and Savannah Reynolds and Cindy Riner from SHS. Due to being in attendance at the State Beta Convention, the STAR recipients weren't present to accept their awards, so the announcement of the county system winner has been pushed to a later date.

Business of the Year was awarded to America Knits, a textile company in Swainsboro focused on developing clothing "from the actual Georgia dirt to the finished shirt" using Georgia-grown cotton and boasting being Made In Swainsboro. The company was started in July 2019 and has since been recognized for its production of personal protective equipment during COVID, participation in "Field to Closets" producing medical scrubs for rural Georgia hospitals with Georgia-grown cotton, and proving that bringing factories back home to the USA can be done, right here in Emanuel County. Congratulations to America Knits for being chosen as Business of the Year!

A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Charles Schwabe for his many years of commitment, leadership, and a strong desire to serve Swainsboro and Emanuel County. He was recognized for the many ways he has served the community over the years in various capacities and organizations. These include First United Methodist Church council, Swainsboro Jaycees and Southeast Georgia Jaycee Fair Board, Miss Emanuel County and Miss Southeast Georgia Pageants Board, Swainsboro Rotary Club, East Georgia State College Foundation, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Joint Development Authority Board, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce Board, Swainsboro Downtown Development Authority, and Pine Tree Festival Committee. He was also recognized for his 16 years of service as the Mayor of the City of Swainsboro. Congratulations to Charles Schwabe on the Lifetime Achievement Award!

At the end of the night, it was announced that the new edition of Emanuel County Living is out now, and copies were provided to attendees at the close of the banquet.

The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank our sponsors for the event, Nordson - Corporate Sponsor, Mill Creek - Awards Sponsor, Jerry Cadle and Cadle Law Firm - STAR Sponsor, and Jim Roberts and Southern Traditions - Design and Decor Sponsor.
