On Wednesday, October 5th, the Leadership Emanuel class met at Emanuel Medical Center where they discussed inspiring a shared vision. The group focused on knowing your “why”, enlisting others with shared aspirations, and the importance of listening first and often. After discussion, the leadership class was given a tour of Emanuel Medical Center (EMC). Damien Scott, CEO of Emanuel Medical Center, shared that EMC is a CMS 5-Star hospital for the 2nd time in 3 years, and they’re rated #1 in GA by CMS for physician communication, #2 in GA by CMS for nursing communication, and #1 in the nation by CMS for preventing hospital-acquired infections. The next location visited was East Georgia Healthcare Center (EGHC). The class learned about the many services offered and the 14 counties covered by EGHC as well as a walk-through of the EGHC mobile unit. Leadership Emanuel participants chose to wear blue in support of the County-Wide Anti Bullying Campaign that day.

Leadership Emanuel is a program sponsored by the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and funded in part by the Millcreek Foundation. Its intent is to build better, more informed leaders in our community through a series of sessions emphasizing practices of exemplary leadership, business and industry tours, and group discussions on issues facing our community both now and in the future. The sessions meet at various locations throughout our county allowing the participants to experience the opportunities available, better equipping them to be more effective leaders for the future.
