On Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 we held a ribbon cutting for the new Emergency Operations Center in Emanuel County. The groundbreaking for this project was held back in March of 2021, and the project has finally reached completion. The 911 operations were previously housed in the Coleman Hotel building and have been moved to the new operations center behind Truist Bank. Several people involved in the process spoke at the grand opening including County Commissioner Chairman Hugh Foskey, County Administrator L. Guy Singletary, Building & Facilities Superintendent Mike Head, 911 Director & EMA Director Martha Culbreth, and Public Safety Coordinator Courtney Terwilliger. After the ribbon was cut, attendees were invited to tour the Emergency Operations Center and see the many upgrades.
